That Guy

I have recently become addicted to the show How I Met Your Mother. I was late on the bandwagon, I know, and after watching tons and tons of reruns I'm really mad I waited this long to become obsessed with this show. Sidenote: yes, I have a crush on Jason Segel and no, I'm not ashamed of it.

So while watching one of my reruns the other night, I happened upon an episode where Barney Stinson (aka the greatest TV character of all time) gave a great nugget of info to the love of my life Jason Segel aka Marshall about how to not get laid off. He said, and I quote, "You just need a way to make yourself absolutely essential...You need a thing. Something that makes you fun and well-liked."

Which segued into the types of "those guys" in the office - the Food Guy, Toy Guy, YouTube Clip Guy, and so on. So in an effort to become indispensable Marshall became Fantasy Football Guy.

And while obviously this show is meant to be funny and not taken completely seriously, I started to ponder about this theory. Could it actually work in the work force? And I have to say yes I think it can. At my last job, there were tons of people who should not have been there but they had a 'thing' they were known for. Like I was indispensable because I knew how to work our mail system and where supplies were and sadly I could navigate our storage area like a pro. I had common knowledge of our office but it wasn't something that everyone could do. I had given myself a shield of some sort.

Recently at my office, a few people have been fired. And I know I'm not in HR so I can't say for sure they why, but of course it makes you think, 'Oh God, I'm next'. It's the automatic reaction. And I don't think I have a "thing" yet at my more recent job. I think my best bet is to become the Party Girl - not in that I get wasted all the time but that I always plan parties. Then I'll be golden!

What "guy" are you at work?

Summer Nights In Front of the TV

We all know that summer nights are meant for happy hours on verandas, decks, porches (really anywhere outside), playing in summer sport leagues, and generally enjoying the fact that it's not snowing or below 40 degrees. But sometimes you just can't drink one more Bud Light Lime or attend one more happy hour function or your liver will fail.

In the event that this occurs, I have put together a little list of TV shows that are debuting this summer that I think we should watch out for since they feature some strong Working Girl characters.

Hung
Sundays @ 10PM on HBO

Granted, the main character of this show is a male, but hear me out on this one. The show centers around how Ray (Thomas Jane), a man down on his luck, decides to earn extra cash by using his special gift aka his large penis (eek - just writing that makes me laugh - hi, I'm a 7-year-old). What intrigues me about this show is that he picks up a female pimp, Tonya, who is a poet also down on her luck. I think this show will not only be seriously interesting just because of the topic, but I can't wait to see if Tonya is gonna turn into a kick-ass WG (despite it not being the best of professions).

Blonde Charity Mafia
Tuesdays @ 9PM on The CW

This reality show is marketed to be The Hills but for the Washington DC socialites and follows the lives of the most influential 20-something girls on the social circuit. For me this seems to be a no-brainer (as in I can shut off my brain and watch). Plus since I, as a Working Girl, have recently begun networking by getting involved in charity boards and the like, hope this show is less about the drama and more about the events (I love picking up tips!). Yea, I'm sure I'll be disappointed but it's worth a try.

Hawthorne
Tuesdays @ 9PM on TNT

Jada Pinkett Smith has scored one of TNT's complex female character shows (think: The Closer and Saving Grace). She plays Christina Hawthorne who is the Chief Nursing Officer heading up the nursing divison and widowed working mother to a teenager. I've heard bad reviews of this show so far and to be honest it sounds kinda boring, but I think it's worth checking out for the eye candy that is Michael Vartan who I have loved since Never Been Kissed.

Nurse Jackie
Mondays @ 10PM on Showtime

The reviews I've read of this show do not paint veteran nurse Jackie Peyton (Edie Falco) as a super strong Working Girl. I'm guessing taking too many pain meds and cheating on your hubby makes her a little less than perfect, but it is said that as a nurse she's kind and really cares about her patients. In other words, she cares about her work and the complexity of her character makes me want to order Showtime stat.

Things You Probably Shouldn't Do at Work

For the past month I have been having problems with my cable provider.

It all started right after I got back from Key West. I turned on my TV after a long hard vacation/work trip ready to watch Grey's and Private Practice to find my DVR had been erased - everything that I had pre-recorded and all the shows I still hadn't watched from the week before poof gone. Of course I was irate since I'm one of those people that love TV (as I have mentioned over and over).

I called RCN, my cable provider, and they informed me that I had low signal and that I would probably need a new cable box. So the next week they sent out a technician who gave me a new cable box and then proceeded to tell me that he didn't know why but my signal was low (you think genius?) and that he would need to send a proper technician out to fix it the next day. Of course that guy never showed up.

So I called the next week, fuming, and told them my plight. They opened a work order and told me to wait for dispatch to give me a call to set up an appointment. Three days pass, nada. So I call back and this time they set up an appointment -- catch being that it is an all day appointment where someone needs to be home from 8-5PM to let in the technician.

Since I have a 8-5 job, my little sister who was home on her Spring Break from college, offered to sit in my apartment and wait for the cable guy. 5PM rolls around and I am about to get on my plane to NYC (to see WG1 for her bday of course), and my sister tells me no one has showed up and no one has called all day long. I call RCN in an irate state and start bitching and they drop the bomb on me that an all day appointment isn't 8-5...it's actually 8-8PM so there is nothing they can do until 8PM. So my sister waits till 8PM. Guess who still doesn't show up? Yea, so predictable.

Last week, during work, I call RCN and scream until I barely have a voice. I talk to managers and supervisors and no one will do anything but put in another work order and offer me a free month of HBO (which is useless when you don't have signal BTW). So I let them put in another work order and waited 8 days for someone to call me. Nothing. I have not heard one peep.

Today, in my last ditch attempt, I called RCN again and I got the same song and dance about work orders and dispatch will call me. This time I cried BS and cancelled my subscription. So doing this in the workplace probably isn't the best idea, especially when you are so fuming angry that veins are popping out of your neck as berate the customer service reps who can barely mutter two sentences and offer up "condolences all all your frustrations". A co-worker kindly offered to transfer the call into an empty office so I could bitch in peace.

After I finally cancelled and went back to my desk, a co-worker of mine who sits in the office behind me (aka my one of my only friends who also happens to be over 50) offered up this sage advice, "WG2," she said, "Cable providers are like boyfriends. You dump them and you move on."

Nicely put co-worker, nicely put.

Who Would You Fire?

I was not a avid The Office fan until my senior year of college when watching repeats became a normal hung-over routine between me and my roommates (hell yes we sprung for DVR). But I quickly became addicted to Michael's comments that made you wince, Pam & Jim's glances of lust, and Dwight's quirks.

So the past few years, I would DVR Grey's and dutifully watch The Office because I couldn't not watch it as it first aired. But these days my love of The Office has faded. And now I turn on Grey's (even though Izzy is dying - wait what?!?) and watch The Office on Hulu.com when I get bored.

In a recent article in the LA Times, writer Jon Caramanica argues that The Office is slowly fading and the reason is Michael Scott. His solution: fire someone. And if we're getting specific here, he says fire Michael Scott.

Caramanica writes, "Early on, taking after Ricky Gervais' David Brent on the original British version of the show, Michael was a catalyst for misbehavior and ill will. He was difficult, verging on unlovable; you almost had to shield your eyes watching him, so great was his capacity for awkwardness." He argues that Steve Carrell isn't playing the character like he used to - and he even physically looks better. He has better hair, better posture, and we almost feel sympathetic towards Michael Scott. Which should not be the case.

And I have to say that I whole-heartedly agree. Something is off (come on, I would rather watch Grey's obviously something is off).

The article goes on to say that Steve Carrell isn't the only problem - Jim & Pam are even annoying...Jim especially. The article describes Jim as being "smug and self-satisfied"...again, I agree. Before, Jim used to deliver one-liners that weren't blatantly stings, but now it's like he's not even trying. His one-liners are borderline cruel.

So who is keeping the show afloat? Sidekick storylines - plain and simple. The Accounting corner is probably one of the only reasons I tune in any longer. Oscar, Kevin, and Angela are a great combination that always ellicit laughs.

And my favorite character who doesn't get nearly enough lines? Kelly Kapoor. She is hilarious! I love her pop culture comments, her need to stay thin by eating tapeworms she buys from Creed, and she (like me) loves her birthday. So let's give her some new story lines please.

If it were up to me, I would fire Stanley. Ever since he blew up last season, he has become my most hated character on the show. He's sarcastic yes and sure sometimes he makes me grin, but his bad attitude is killing me slowly. Quit already! And give us some new Office blood.

P.S. Where the hell did Ryan disappear to?

Running In Heels: Homework

Joanna, Nina and Zanna are heading to Fashion week in Europe. But before the leave, Joanna wants to sit down with the interns and get their opinion of recent issues of the magazine.

The girls are excited and nervous to have the opportunity but Talita isn’t thrilled at the idea of have “homework” after a 12-hour workday. Samantha is Patty Positive about it and Talita mocks her. Ashley sulks and rolls her eyes. Per usual.

“Do you ever think about anything realistically?” – Talita to Samantha.

“I don’t see what’s wrong with being positive. We got an assignment, I’m gonna work hard at it, not just complain like Talita.” – Samantha

I’m going to have to go with Samantha on this one.

Abby, a fashion assistant, is preparing for European fashion week. She’ll be going with the editors but instead of attending the shows, she’ll be running a satellite office from her hotel room.

That night, Ashley and Talita are back their apartment and Samantha is still at the office preparing for their meeting with Joanna. As they eat dinner, Talita and Ashley talk shit about Samantha.

The next morning, Samantha is still reading back issues while the other two get dressed.

“Does it even take that long to read?” – Ashley

At the office, the Meeting begins with Samantha saying “I love this issue, I’m not trying to suck up or anything.” Talita rolls her eyes and Ashley sulks.

Joanna responds with “you can suck up, sucking up is good.” Well, if the Editor In Chief says so, I’m going to say it’s fine.

Talita and Ashley both give positive feedback about the issue they are discussing but then Joanna asks them to share what did they didn’t like. Dun dun dun!

“I have a lot of those.” – Ashley.

Don’t think that was your best move, Ash. But then she gives fair constructive criticism of a fashion piece and Joanna agrees with her that the spread did not have variety in the clothes and diversity in the women. This becomes their next task. In 5 days, the interns have to create a page featuring a current trend and a real woman.

“We keep on getting harder and harder assignments and more and more work to do, this internship is harder than I thought it would be.” – Talita

“ I’m not going to admit it to the other girls but, I’m actually pretty glad we got this assignment. Its’ my chance to finally show j what I’ve got.” – Ashley

Samantha may be smarter than Talita and Ashley are giving her credit for. She gets samples from the fashion closet for their assignment and has a fashion assistant model the clothes. Things get a little emotional when she tries on an outfit and it doesn’t fit. Jeremy, a fashion editor, reminds her that sample sizes are 2 and 4 and that she shouldn’t be upset.

Later, Ashley asks Zoe for advice on their assignment. Good move seeing as Zoe is the editor for that page. Ashley truly seems nervous and admits that she’s a huge procrastinator and that she probably wont do anything until the last minute. How very college of her.

Talita hits the streets of Manhattan to hut down women in vests. Talita asks the art interns to help her layout her page.

They meet with editor Lucy to update her on the status of each of their pages and Ashley is late. Her excuse: she gave her last dollar to a homeless man and that dollar was her dollar for the subway. Uh, really Ashley? First of all the subway is $2.00 and, second, I thought you ladies rolled in cabs.

Ashley finds out that Talita had the art interns to design the page and she plans to call her out on it. I think this was fair. It’s not like the editors design each page in the magazine, the art department does.

Two days before the project is due, Ashley still hasn’t done anything and instead of working she talks to Zoe about how Talita “cheated.” Zoe doesn’t think what Talita did was out of line but she does say that Ashley will look better if she does her entire assignment herself.

Joanna and the crew are back and it’s time for the girls to present.

Samantha had a poorly cropped photo on her layout.
Ashley’s page was unfocused.
Talita had spelling mistakes in her copy. When is this girl going to learn?

“I don’t think any of you have spent any time really looking at magazines.” – Joanna

“I thought that Samantha’s trend was awful, Talita’s, she cheated on her project and Joanna still didn’t like it. – Ashley

“I hope that Ashley and Samantha have learned their lesson and that next time they worry less about me and focus more on their own projects. – Talita

“I don’t think it can get any worse” – Ashley

"I'm Running in Stupid Heels"

Faulty internet, an annoying television and my beyond pathetic Monday night bedtime have prevented me from posting my The City recaps every week. For that, I apologize. I know many of you enjoyed those posts but they have officially been retired. But, I've decided to take up a new weekly television show: Running in Heels.

Running In Heels premiered Sunday night on the style network. The eight-week docuseries will follow three interns and the staff of Hearst's Marie Claire. I feel better about following people who actually work where they say they work. So, Working Girls, here we go.

The 3 Interns

Ashley from Washington, D.C.
"I'm always trying to be the stand out one of the interns"

Talita from L.A.
"I believe I have the talent of Fashion. I think I was just born with it."

Samantha from Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
"I'm a little nervous because I don't know much about fashion magazines and how they work."

According to Ashley, the magazine gave her the names of the two other interns, they decided to live together and Ashley found the apartment that the three girls are living in online. False and false. Granted, they only have one bedroom and there are bunk beds. But still, when I was an intern I paid $2,000 to live in an NYU dorm with five other girls.

Immediately after introductions, there is drama already boiling. Ashley doesn't like Talita because she's very L.A. and Talita thinks Ashley is standoffish. Samantha, in true Midwest form, likes them both. So far, Talita and Ashley have nothing bad to say about Samantha. I give it 10 minutes.

The Staff

Joanna Coles - Editor In Chief
"It is stressful but i love it."

Zoe Glassner - Senior Shopping Editor
"Positions in the industry are limited"

Lucy Kaylin - Executive Editor
"Nothing gets in the magazine without going through me first."

Zanna Roberts - Senior Fashion Editor
"It's definitely not all glamour but it's fun and I love what I do"

The First Day

Ashley, Talita and Samantha take a cab to work. Shouldn't interns be taking the subway or the bus?

Zoe greets the girls, gives them a quick tour and then offers them her advice.

Zoe's words of wisdom are:
1. Don't speak unless spoken to.
2. No gum.
3. No flip-flops.
4. Wear appropriate underwear
5. And don't forget "there are hundreds of girls who would kill to be you."

I think I've heard that last one somewhere before. I just can't put my finger on it...

She also gives them their first week assignments:
Talita - assist the beauty department at fashion week.
Samantha - tend to Joanna Coles and newly hired Nina Garcia.
Ashley - assist Zoe in the fashion department

Talita and Samantha are beyond excited by their assignments. Ashley is not and she should be. Zoe has worked at Marie Claire for eight years. I'd guess she knows the ins-and-outs of the magazine more than most. If Ashley were to preform well in assisting her it would be very helpful for her career. Throughout her assignment she's sulking.

We get our first real glimpse of Nina during a fashion department meeting. She is channeling Miranda Preistly. I like it.

Down in the studio Zoe is also hardcore and I like it. Ashley does not. She did not pack up items from a photo short correctly and Zoe is not having it.
Zoe says, in a voiceover, that internships are all about learning and that if you don't know how to do something, you need to ask. Ashley says, to the camera, that Zoe didn't tell her how to pack the times, so she shouldn't be mad. Who's side are you on?

Sergio, Joanne's assistant, gives Samantha her first assignment. To pick up designer outfits for Joanne. And before we know it she is literally running in her heels. On her way back to the office, she tries to hail a cab. "I don't know what the lights mean," she says about the cabs.

(A quick NYC cab lesson from WG1: if just the lights in the middle are on, the cab is available. If no lights are on, the cab is taken. If just the "off duty" lights are on, the cab is off duty. If the "off duty" and the middle lights are on, the cabbie might take you were you need to go if he feels like it.)

Talita's assignment is to go to the Rock & Republic fashion show and interview models backstage about their beauty secrets. When she arrives backstage she looks totally lost. I can't blame her, it looks beyond overwhelming. It's stressing me out just watching.
The following Monday, Talita meets with a beauty editor to discuss her assignment. According to the editor, Talita didn't get enough information and had several spelling mistakes in her draft. That's a huge no-no.

While Talita was doing a bad job backstage, Sergio called the intern apartment and gave Ashley tickets to the show and she did not invite Samantha. After the show and back at the apartment Samantha confronted Ashley. Ashley was not sorry for not inviting Samantha and this upset Samantha. Drama, drama, drama.

Later, Zoe is passing out assignments again. For the Nina Garcia party, Samantha gets to work the red carpet, the glamorous assignment, while Talita and Ashley are working on event planning (read: gift bag stuffing duty). And obviously Ashley is sulking about it. She thinks she should have the more glamorous assignment because she has more experience.

After the Party

"Never would I ever have the audacity to walk around a party, with Nina Garcia, during fashion week, barefoot, with a glass of champagne in my hand, as an intern." - Ashley.

"It was very clear tonight that Samantha doesn't know what shes doing." - Talita

"They were looking at me like I was the biggest idiot" - Samantha about Ashley and Talita.

Upon first meeting the girls, I thought I was going to hate Talita and that Samantha was slightly annoying. Ashley appeared to be the perfect intern. She was experienced, poised and polite. Those last two didn't last long. Perhaps she has the most experience but she needs to cut out the competitiveness and realize that each opportunity during her internship will be helpful. Even it is stuffing gift bags and packing up photo shoot items.

I began rooting for Samantha, the nice girl from the Midwest. But, I was right, she's annoying and "green" as Talita put it. As an intern or even as a full-time employee working the event, you should not be seen eating the food or drinking the drinks while the party is going on. Nor should you take of your heels.

Talita, while she made some mistakes with her first assignment is the most mature intern so far. She stayed out of the drama between Ashley and Samantha and only reacted to Samantha's actions at the party. We'll see how long she remains drama free.

(Editor's note: I apologize for the lack of photos. As previously mentioned, my internet has been faulty lately and pictures are just not going to happen for this post.)

The City: Boys Night Out

Here's our weekly The City recap. A little late due to the inauguration and last night's premiere of LOST.

This episode is title "Boys Night Out." Something tells me that there isn't going to be much work going on here.

In this episode we get to know Allie. I guess she's a model and is getting kind of naked for a Diesel shoot. She's worried that while she's away, Adam will play.

Olivia and Nevan are looking for artwork because Olivia could not make it the Christie's auction. Poor Olivia. While shopping, Nevan explains to Olivia that he needs to find a nine to five job. It sounds like his daddy was taking care of him for a while and then cut him off. But, if he gets a job, he might get his rent paid for again?
"As long as is doesn't involve me boozing six nights a week at some watering hole in the east village, he's happy." - Nevan. Just what every parent wants for their child.

The boys [Jay and Adam] go out. And I'm bored. Dear MTV, the audience for The City does not want to girls dancing on poles. Love, Working Girl.

Jay seems seriously annoying when he's drunk. Total chatty Cathy.

Another breakfast for Whitney and Erin. This time Whitney's friend Samantha from Bergdorf's joins them. Based on what they are wearing, I think it's a Saturday or Sunday. Some girl named Cat made out Adam. Didn't see that coming.

Okay, Jay and Whitney are a little bit cute sitting in Madison Square Park.

Jay confronts Adam about the alleged make-out. Adam decided to tell Allie. He does, and spins the story.

Nevan is staying with Olivia. Apparently he's homeless.

"Try to find a job, please." - Olivia to Nevan.
"Not gonna happen." - Nevan to Olivia

The girls, including Samantha, have lunch with Allie and talk about Adam. Typical girl "We're just looking out for you"convo. Allie looks upset.

Allie and Adam fight. I don't like watching other couples fight. It's just weird and they sound annoying but then i think "do I sound that annoying when I fight with my boyfriend?"

And that's the end. Lame episode.

Best quote:

"Who has drinks at two in the afternoon on a Friday?" -Nevan

The City: Lock it Down

At DVF there is a big party coming up and Olivia is working on the guest list of editors and "socials." Socials are socialites. Which, I think, has got to be slightly awkward for Olivia. She has to work the event her friends are invited to. She may as well be serving the champagne. "It's just like...abbreviation." - Olivia on the word socials.

We spot DVF herself for the first time on The City. How cute that she played with Whitney's hair for a second.? "No, I don't." - DVF when Whitney says she looks pretty.

Whitney felt that her meeting with DVF went well. "I'm so happy for you." - Olivia. That is false.

Tell me that Erin and Whitney are having a pre-work breakfast chat again! I can't even focus on what they are saying. I'm trying to figure out if that's a sandwich Erin put in her mouth of if it is toast. Basic gist of the conversation: Jay doesn't want to commit to Whitney.

I wish my office looked the DVF office. The big party is the Wonder Woman party. Whitney has been given the task of windows. Olivia has been told to help her. She doesn't look happy. Surprised? Me neither.

I love Duncan. He made Erin's bed. And he did a good job. If only my boyfriend would do that. Duncan is thinking about moving to the city and explains to Erin that he'd need to sleep on her couch until he found a place. "And, by couch, I mean bed" - Duncan. He's seriously great.

At the Wonder Woman party, Whitney meets Chris. The kind of cute guy who works in the finance department of DVF. He asks her to lunch in front of their co-workers.

While Whitney is at lunch with Chris, Jay calls. Dun dun dun. I feel awkward watching Whitney and Chris. Ok, what was that hug when they got back to the office? So awkward. "I'll see you down the hallway." - Whitney to Chris after the awkward hug.

At dinner, Whitney tells Jay that she went to lunch with a co-worker named Chris. He gets jealous. And he should really calm down because if he knew how awkward the lunch was he wouldn't be worried.

When gabbing with Whitney about boys and dating, Erin uses the term "riding the wave," which I love. Two points for Erin. But she's still no Whitney circa The Hills.

Jay meets Adam at his place of work, Il Bastardo (yum!), to discuss the Whitney situation. Jay decides he needs to "lock it down." I think that's Australian for "make her my girlfriend."

So, Jay goes to Whitney's apartment and tells her he wants her to by his girlfriend. I couldn't really watch because it was weird to watch them make-out.

The City: L-O-V-E

Does every episode of The City start with a new guy? Ah, Erin's boyfriend. His name would be Duncan.

Another pre-work roomie breakfast? Don't these girls have to be at the office? During this weeks gabfest, Whitney feels bad for sleeping on Erin's couch. "It's a little crowded but of course you are welcome" - Erin. A little crowded? Her foyer is bigger than my bedroom.

"It's so difficult" - Whitney on apartment hunting in New York. Girl, you have no idea. But MTV is probably paying your 15% broker fee so I don't feel bad for you.

Olivia is completley bored at DVF. Whitney, why are you answering your cell at work, right after your boss asked you to do something? You'll rush to meet Jay? Do you not have hours that you need to be in the office? Oh, right, right. You don't really work there.

While apartment hunting with Jay, Whitney says that she pictured herself in "one of those shorter brick buildings." That would be a walk-up, Whitney.

Back at DVF, Olivia goes on a long tangent about not being dependant on a man. I love the random coworker eavesdropping on her. I bet she's thinking "Olivia, being dependant on your father is worse, shut up!" Cause that's what I was thinking.

Erin and Duncan gross me out a little bit but Ducncan kind of sort of cracks me up. "By weird, do you mean awesome?" - Duncan.

Whitney took the apartment Jay found her and put in a very ugly couch. Erin informs Whitney and Jay that she and Duncan said "I love you." Jay freaks out. Whitney freaks out and worries about their relationship because Jay freaked out.

Erin and Whitney go for a walk in Central Park. I wonder why I never saw them when I went for runs around the reservior. Oh, cause I've only done that twice since September.

I don't like Olivia's cousin Nevan because he looks creepy and talks creepy. But most of all because of this: "I was waiting for the subway on 28th street and I spit on the platform." I hate when guys do that. It's so gross and they do it all the time. It makes me want to push them onto the tracks. Ha, he got $100 ticket. That's the best thing I've heard all day.

Olivia's mad that Whitney didn't take her apartment hunting advice. Olivia clearly wants to be Blair Waldorf and she wants Whitney to be the first member of her new entourage.

At Stanton Social Jay is still hung up on the "L" word. He and Whitney have the awkward "what are we?" conversation and he is so Justin Bobby. He doesn't want a label but he does want to get to know Whitney better. "So we're toally on the right page" - Jay. Whitney is so not on that page.

The City: Small World

(Editor's Note: I know, I know, I'm so behind already with The City recaps. Here is the recap from last week's second episode. Last night's recap coming ASAP.)

Who is this Alex character? I'm guessing they covered him on The Hills which, as you know, I'm so over. Alex breaks the news to Whitney that Jay is dating was dating went home with his roommate's best friend.

"Small world." - Whitney. I bet she'll say that in every episode. Manhattan is an island Whitney, it's pretty small.

Back in Gramercy, Whitney briefs Erin, who is taking the friend role that Whitney had in The Hills and seriously sucking at it. Make some funny faces or get a better accent.

In Central Park Jay and Adam are playing basketball. I'm enjoying shirtless Adam very much.

Oh Olivia. She and her cousin Nevan don't want Whitney to get caught in that "downtown crap" and are going to let her into their inner circle. What is this? High school?

At Cafe Noir, Jay is channeling Justin Bobby like whoa. Whitney confronts Jay. "I supposed I should explain." - Jay. Well, duh! With that accent I'd believe his story too.

Olivia takes Whitney to a Manolo Balanik event at Bergdorf Goodman and informs Whitney that the Balaniks are old family friends. Whitney runs into the assistant buyer and Olivia doesn't seem to happy about that. Wait, Olivia did say he was a family friend, right? I don't think Mr. Balanik had any idea who she was. And he could not have cared less about her first pair of Manolos.

Adam's girlfriend, Allie, looks beyond bored at Tenjune. "Omigod, Alex is here." - Whitney. She can't seriously be surprised, right? Jay and Alex fight. Whitney truely looks upset and drained. All we need is Lauren Conrad with a good eyeroll and this would be perfect.

OMG KELLY CUTRONE! I never thought I'd be so happy to see her. Whitney goes to People's Revolution to visit Kelly. She is getting very maternal and I love it. Kelly, I could use the names of a few good doctors in the city, thanks! Whitney explains her boy drama to Kelly. "Maybe you can't turst both of them." - Kelly. So enlightening.

Favorite Quotes:
"She got a job? That's not like her" - Kelly on Olivia.

The City: That's So New York

Last night's premiere of The City had exactly one redeeming quality: the choice of music during the DVF fashion was Lady Gaga. I'm going through a huge Lady Gaga obsession right now so any show playing her can't totally suck.

The Cast
Whitney: The California girl that we loved to loved on The Hills.
Erin: The friend/temporary roommate.
Olivia: The frienemy.
Jay: The Australian Love interest whom I hereby dub the Justin Bobby of The City.
Adam: Jay's roommate.

Whitney's introduction to her new job is typical New York: Here are some people. Here is your desk. Good luck. Her introduction to Olivia is typical reality TV. "Who are you?" Olivia asks. Oh, like you don't know who she is, Olivia! The question is, who are you? Other than a "social."

Next, we met Erin. Whitney is crashing with Erin until she finds a place of her own. I'm dying to know what Erin does because that apartment is sick nasty. "That's so New York," Erin says of dinner parties. It so is.

Ah, the token love interest.Whitney met Justin Bobby Jay at Nero in the West Village. He's Australian. While I love the accent I think he's a cheese ball. "Can I sing to you tonight?" Case in point.

The post-date, pre-work roomie breakfast chat just doesn't happen in real life, as far as I know. I'm lucky if I have time to shower before, let alone make breakfast and gab with my roomies about my night. But maybe I should try it. It probably doesn't take long to recap a night of eating potato chips and watching Jon and Kate Plus 8.

At the DVF fashion show after party Whitney's boss told her that she think Whitney will do a great job at DVF. If only she were really employed there. Olivia immediately notices the convo, swoops in and asks Whitney to come to her dinner party (avec Jay). Something tells me Olivia's Mommy nanny told her to keep her friends closer and her enemies closer.

Since Jay doesn't want to go to the dinner because he doesn't think Olivia is genuine. So she brings Erin. Now, I don't die with "socials" often but I'm pretty sure it isn't polite to bring an unexpected guest. Make that guests because Jay did in fact show up. Only with whisk Whitney (and Erin) away from the "socials." He's probably going to go sing to them.

What we know (based on body language along):
Erin does not like Olivia.
Olivia does not like anyone, except maybe Jay.
Jay likes anything with boobs.

Favorite quotes:
"I hate a dead handshake." - Olivia
Oh, girl. So do I.

"There is no polite way to get out of a taxi." - Erin
Fact.

(Editor's note: MTV aired two episodes of The City last night. The second episode's recap will be posted later this week/weekend).

Meeting Notes

Meeting Notes is a weekly feature. Here we will dish on tidbits, news, and important things we think you Working Girls should know. So scroll down to hear what we think you should glean from this work week.

  • First off, I have to mention that Working Girl was offered our first ever guest post! We were over-the-moon thrilled to be asked by The Invisible Student (one of our loyal and of our few male readers). Since WG1 had a huge event going on, I stepped up to the plate and wrote the post, which was posted a few weeks ago on The Invisible Student's blog. It's a good read for any of those who want to know about how WG1 and I met and how we started this sucker of a blog. Plus, The Invisible Student always has some great insight on a lot of topics we write about! So check out his blog!

  • We suppose this can be construed as either a good thing or a bad thing, but we just found out that Bravo's The Rachel Zoe Project , which revolves around the life of stylist to the stars Rachel Zoe, was renewed for another drama and fashion-filled second season. If Brad does not come back, I refuse to watch. He is that show.

  • Speaking of reality TV, we heard some online gossip revealing that Kelly Cutrone, one of our fave parts of The Hills, is going to be getting her own reality TV show. No idea what network picked it up, but Cutrone herself has described the show as being, "Wizard of Oz meets Stephen King meets 'Rhoda'." All we have to say to that is yikes.

  • Since entering my new job, I've tried to not slack off. But with the holidays coming up and getting all settled after my move, you can probably guess how that is going. While surfing the web, I found this article on work habits that help you get the job done. My favorites include taking breaks, ignoring voicemail, and goofing off. Yea, it got my interest too.

  • We have to say that we love this new trend of "celebs" interning. It is a superb idea. Who says that your connections should get you the corner office? Not only is Kanye West planning on interning in London with a fashion design company, but model and heir to the Hearst dynasty, Lydia Hearst is interning at BlackBook. And famous hockey player, Sean Avery, has been interning at Vogue. I'd like a grande low-fat chai tea latte stat. Oh, and can you rap me a verse of Flashing Lights before you go? Kthanks.

  • And my favorite link from the week - an article on the 10 worst employees of 2008. These stories are out of this world crazy - like the deputy coroner who stole $325 worth of gift cards from a dead body she examined and the county baliff who forgot to transport a woman back to jail causing her to be without food, water or a toilet for four days. This article will make you feel amazing about your performance at work!

We hope you Working Girls have a great weekend!

Meeting Notes

Meeting Notes is a weekly feature. Here we will dish on tidbits, news, and important things we think you Working Girls should know. So scroll down to hear what we think you should glean from this work week.
  • Free career tests are my new favorite past-time at work. The latest one I found decides what your career should be by what pattern you prefer more. Squares or swirls? Apparently my choice makes me the perfect Personal Assistant. Womp, womp.
  • Always wanted to know what all the fuss was about your carbon footprint? With the help of the working women of EcoStiletto you can find out how to decrease your carbon footprint from the size of an Ugg boot into a slender Manolo. EcoStiletto helps us understand the green movement in "real-girl terms" and features green picks in fashion, beauty, and helps us continue living the good life without harming the earth.

    • According to the New York Post, Lipstick Jungle, the TV show about three high-powered working women in NYC has been cancelled. Rumors have been floating around all week (is it or isn't it?), but according to this article that was published yesterday, the crew members of the show confirmed that the show has in fact been axed from NBC. Let it go Brooke Shields, let it go.

That's all for this week's news girls! I leave you with my new favorite girl power song of the moment Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)". Have a great weekend!

Working Girl Rents The Office (UK)

I really wanted to write a post today about my irrational fear of recessions which turn into the Great Depression 2008, but WG1 convinced me that was a really bad idea since I know nothing about finance or banking (aka why my fears are irrational). Just in case you wanted to know, I also have irrational fears of mice and Amy Winehouse (her beehive filled with crack really scares the shit out of me).

Anyway, I decided to forgo my previous idea and instead write about my past weekend. While most 20-somethings were partying it up in the citay, I stayed home...in my bed...with ice cream...and watched the original version of The Office on DVD

As an avid fan of the American version of The Office, I expected great things and many laughs. What I did not expect was only 6 episodes. Yes, in the United Kingdom a "series" is only 6 episodes. A full season of episodes in the US is around 22 episodes. So I think you can see why I was disappointed. And color me surprised that The Office in the UK only lasted for two seasons. 6+6=12 (just in case you are mathematically challenged like myself).

All right so despite my initial shock to learn that I could watch the entire two seasons in one day, I learned that I really love the original Office and that America completely and utterly stole the entire idea and story plots for their own. The American characters Pam & Jim -- yep, they were Tim & Dawn in the UK. Michael, Dwight, Kevin, Jan -- yes, they're all products of the original as well. And the entire first episode is almost exactly the same right down to the stapler in the JELL-O bit (minus the accents of course).

After you see beyond the similarities of the two shows, you absolutely fall in love with The Office. Ricky Gervais is amazing at making you feel bad for his character socially awkward David Brent, but five seconds later he has the ability to make you want to jump into the TV to punch him for his sexist/racist remarks. His comedic timing is spot on. Which of course leads me to his supporting characters (which there are a lot less of). My favorites of course were Gareth (the Dwight of the show) and Tim (who is just so adorable that I want to eat his little face). Gareth is more weasel-like and smarmy, but a former soldier which makes for great jokes. Tim makes your heart melt. Swoon.

Unfortunately, I think I may be a bit prejudiced when it comes to which I enjoy more. I watched the American show first, and there are more episodes to keep me occupied. There were some things about this version however that I liked more. Overall, it seems more believable. And from watching the special behind-the-scenes featurette on disc 2 I found out that they really shot the show in a real office building (not a set!) and that they were so loud that they were asked to tone it down by the other offices in the building. I also felt like the characters are a tad more believable. Every single one of them seemed like they could work at my office. But I truly think that is the nature of British television - it's all shot in a way that makes it seem more real (unless it's East Enders, sorry but not real at all).

Also, the whole premise of The Office is that it is being shot as a documentary. Sometimes when watching the American version you forget that, but with the UK version it's obvious because it's choppy and not all the scenes fit perfectly together. But that's the point! So I love that aspect.

But as an American I am a lover of happy endings. The full circle is something I expect. And The Office in the UK could care less if we want Tim and Dawn to live happily ever after.

My recommendation is to rent the entire 12 hours when you have a free Saturday lying around. It's a great substitute for bad Lifetime movies.

What Working Girl Is Watching This Fall Season

We say it a lot. But we can't say it enough. We love TV. And we love when TV involves anything work-related.

Working Girl One Will Be Watching...

The Hills
The show I hate to love. Every season, make that every episode, I say to myself "I can't stand this show, I'm not watching it anymore." But I somehow find myself sitting on the couch every Monday at 10 PM watching the girls of The Hills. While I cannot stand Heidi and Spencer and the girls probably aren't employed at the fabulous places they film their "work scenes," MTV has a way of sucking me back in to see how the girls will fare at Lex Deux and at their jobs. This season we can look forward to Spencer and Heidi plot against the rest of the cast, Stephanie backstabbing by going on a date with Doug and, if we're really lucky, perhaps will see a little more of Brody.

Monday nights on MTV.

Stylista
The creators of America's Next Top Model and Project Runway are gracing us with another fine reality show this season: Stylista. Eleven fashionistas compete for an editorial job at ELLE Magazine. The must impress Fashion News Director Anne Slowey with their fashion sense and ability to prepare her breakfast accurately. This means getting a short straw from Starbucks not a long one. I know, seriously? This season we can expect screaming, tears and unaffordable clothes. It's going to be great.

New season begins October 22nd on The CW.

Lipstick Jungle
You all know how WG2 and I feel about Lipstick Jungle. We didn't enjoy if for a minute last season. But since our beloved Cashmere Mafia was cancelled are stuck with this second rate show about Working Girls. Wendy, Nico and Vicotry live and work in Manhattan. They try to have it all: career, family, friends and fabulousness. Spoilers are hard to find but in this second, hopefully improved, season Mary Tyler Moore are Rosie Perez are rumored to appear. And of course Keith's winning outfit from Project Runway. We're going to give it one more chance.

New season begins on September 24th on NBC.

Ugly Betty

I have yet to watch an episode of Ugly Betty. For a girl who works at a national woman's magazine (in marketing) and once dreamt of working in editorial, it's a sin that I don't watch and love this show. From what I've read on Wikipedia I know that Betty is the personal assistant to Mode editor in chief and she works with a number of interesting characters, much like most of us Working Girls do. So, Working Girls since I have so much time before the season premiere, can someone please fill me in on seasons one and two?

Season three begins on September 25th on ABC.

Working Girl Two Will Be Watching...

The Office
Duh. This one is a no-brainer. I could not be more excited for the return of this show. It is by far my favorite in the fall season line-up. I can't wait for all my questions to be answered. Will Jim finally propose to Pam? What will happen after that infamous Angela and Dwight sex scene? Will Angela and Andy stay engaged? According to spoilers, what we have to look forward to is a new girlfriend for Michael (Toby's HR replacement Holly) and Michael plans to be a large part in the life of Jan's baby (reminder: it's not his). And according to Entertainment Weekly, we have an Office spin-off to look forward to which will be premiering after the 2009 Super Bowl.

New season begins September 25th on NBC.

Private Practice
What I truly loved about Grey's Anatomy was the introduction of a little character named Dr. Addison Montgomery. I was heartbroken when I heard she was leaving, but equally ecstatic that she was getting a spinoff...with a lot of hot dudes like Taye Diggs, Tim Daly and murse Dell played by Chris Lowell. Can we say yum? Things we have to look forward to this season: lots of drama. Every male and every woman on this show are dating each other...and all work in the same office...which creates drama. Melrose Place's Grant Show is said to be making an appearance as someone's ex, who will I am sure create more and more drama. I love drama.

New season begins October 1st on ABC.

The Rachel Zoe Project
New to my list of must-watch TV shows this fall is Bravo's new reality show centered around stylist to the stars Rachel Zoe. Cameras are said to follow around Rachel and her inner circle of friends, assistants Brad and Taylor, and her husband. Also said to make some appearances are some of those celebs that she styles. My hope is that Lindsay Lohan and her new gal pal Samantha Ronson make an appearance on the show. What I hope to glean from this show is if Rachel Zoe is really a Working Girl Idol or just plain crazy. And I'm putting $10 on crazy.

Season premieres on September 8th on Bravo.

Samantha Who?
First of all, I have loved Christina Applegate since Don't Tell Mom the Baby-sitter's Dead. Pure genius. Last season, I fell in love with Samantha Who?, a show about a woman who wakes up after being in a coma and remembers nothing about her past life. And apparently she was a raging biotch before the car accident that rendered her without memory. So now Sam has to rediscover her relationship with her parents, her boyfriend, her friends and of course our favorite topic, work. And according spoiler alerts, it looks like this season they are going to be doing a fun little dance episode. I love comedies that do hilarious mocks on musicals.

New season begins October 6th on ABC.

The Hills: Nice is Not Lo's Middle Name

Spoiler Alert!

When we last left the girls of The Hills, Whitney and Lauren were working at People's Revolution in LA and Heidi ditched her boss in Vegas for Specner. This season there is bound to be drama. Hopefully some of it will be work related.

Scene 1, People's Revolution. This is a good sign. Perhaps the girls will continue to be somewhat career focused this season. Whitney and Lauren are discussing friendships (Lo and Audrina hating one another) and romance ("Doug's such a funny name" - Whitney), don't we all do this at work? And I don't mean gossip. I mean, talk about Lo, Audrina and Lauren Conrad's love life.

Scene 2, Bolthouse Productions. Seriously? Heidi wasn't fired after last season's Vegas fiasco? Are you kidding, Brent? I'm losing respect for you here. Also, this chick Heidi works with needs to get her act together. She totally encourages Speidi. She seems smart, mature, doesn't she know better?

Secne 3, Epic Records. Good to know all the girls are still employed. I take that back, where is Lo working these days? Was she ever working? "Lo's always been super bitchy, that's just how she is." - Audrina. Perhaps her job is to be a bitch?
And that's the extent of our work coverage for this premiere episode of The Hills. But, because there is so much ridiculousness going on in The Hills, I'll continue my commentary:

Heidi's sister Holly is visiting LA. Ugh, Speidi. I have zero tolerance for them.

"Please be nice" - Heidi
"It's my middle name" - Spencer.
I hate him, but sometimes he has great lines.

Seeing Doug makes me miss Brody. We need Brody back. But I'll give the guy a chance.

I love love love that the Black Eyed Peas "Don't F*uck With My Heart" is still the outro music.

Audrina's Birthday Party. Yes, Frankie! Brody can't be far away. What? No Brody? C'mon!

Lo is officially a bitch. And that look Lauren gave her when she commented on Audrina's friends. Priceless. That girl has the best evil eye.

Justin Bobby is hot. He wasn't when we first met him, but he got wicked hot.

I didn't always buy the whole "Lauren is such a sweet girl, she's so genuine" thing. Now I get it. She's a straight up, good friend. It's Audrina's birthday. She isn't supposed to be in the kitchen, she's supposed to be enjoying her party. Granted, I'm not sure I'd be rolling with Audrina's friends, but Lo has got to learn to be nicer.

Back to Speidi. Is it just me or are Heidi and Holly kind of fake to one another. Holly's LA move is going to be fantastic. Unfortunately, her LA Makeover hair extensions are heinous.

Lo and Audrina will never be friends. Bummer.

Working Girl Watches: Project Runway

Are you in or are you out?

"Project Runway": I'm in!
Last night's "Lipstick Jungle" challenge: I'm out! And so is WG2.

Last winter, both ABC and NBC filled the void of the writers strike with short seasons of two Working Girl shows, "Cashmere Mafia" and "Lipstick Jungle," respectively. As two girls who love television, WG2 and I were beyond excited about these work-related dramedies.

"Cashmere Mafia" was everything I wanted it to be and more. As I said in January, "Cashmere Mafia" makes me want to take on the business world in a couture dress and 4-inch heels. Lipstick Jungle was the complete opposite. As WG2 said in February, "I don't have "Lipstick Jungle" fever."

Needless to say, we were completely dumbfounded as to why "Cashmere Mafia" was cancelled and "Lipstick Jungle" was not. I'm still hoping that ABC is playing a joke on us and bringing back Mia, Zoe, Juliet, and Caitlin. As unrealistic as their lives were, they inspired me to work hard and focus on my career. And, bottom line, it was fun! The "Lipstick Jungle" ladies made me depressed and convinced me that if I become a career woman I'll be alone for the rest of my life. Who wants to believe that? Even if it could be the reality.

However, last night's episode of "Project Runway" made me rethink my hatred of "Lipstick Jungle." How can a Working Girl hate Brooke Shields? She's definitely a Working Girl Idol.

September 24th, when "Lipstick Jungle" premieres, I'm going to give it another chance, another try. At the very least, I'm going to watch for Keith's sexy outfit:

Working Girl Idol: Det. Olivia Benson

Sundays in the Working Girl apartment usually consist of sitting on the couch, Chinese take-out, and Law & Order: SVU marathons. At one point, our DVR had over 40 unwatched episodes saved and we watch about 5 shows in one sitting. We're big fans. The story-lines are captivating, the plot twists are surprising, Det. Elliot Stabler is a hot and Det. Olivia Benson is one of my Working Girl Idols.

Det. Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay, is the only female detective in Manhattan's Special Victims Unit. She's surrounded by other strong Working Girls like crime lab Doctor Melinda Warner and Assistant District Attorney Casey Novak. But Olivia is my idol. She's tough, she's smart and she's pretty damn good at her job.

What I enjoy most about the show and about Olivia, is how they bring her rough past into her work as an SVU Detective. Olivia is a child of rape and she never knew her father. So, her job hits close to home. Very close. She has such a passion for her work that she gives up her social life and relationships to help victims and catch the perps. I envy the passion that she has for her job, it's a passion that I could never muster for what I'm doing now. But if I did have that much passion for managing promotional listings in a magazine, something would be seriously wrong with me. My job is definitely not worth giving up my social life and relationships.

In addition to being great at her job, Olivia gets to work with Det. Elliot Stabler all day, every (work)day. Reason #1 why I want to be Det. Olivia Benson. Watching Law & Order: SVU makes me want to be a detective. Too bad I hate blood and am scared of the dark.

According to WG2, Olivia is "just a kick ass mother fucker." I have to agree.

Quaaa. Quarr. Quab. Quall. Qwer. Quobbity! Quobbity Assurance!

Oscar: Well this is what happened. Uh, Ryan's big project was the website. Which wasn't doing so well. So Ryan, to give the impression of sales, recorded them twice. Once as offices and once in the website sales, which is what we refer to in the business as misleading the shareholders. Another good term is fraud. The real crime, I think, was the beard.

Last night was The Office season finale and while I, like most people, was disappointed by the Jim and Pam anti-climatic ending, I do have to admit that the writing was back to its old milk-coming-out-of-my-nose funny. WG1 and I were literally laughing out loud the entire time, which I think cancels out the fact that Jim didn't end up proposing to Pam last night.

It was Toby's last day in the office and of course Michael was estatic. I guess I never really understood why Michael hated Toby so much, but I do know that it's hilarious. For Toby's going away party, Angela has only budgeted for a butter cream cake and a slideshow "with just two pictures of Toby."

Michael suggests that instead of this lame party they throw Toby a bash that resembles a New Orleans funeral with his "shoe money". Michael apparently gets a check for about $50 for his birthday from his grandmother every year, but since she is now quite old she sends him about eight-nine checks a year. Michael has been keeping this money for a rainy day...in his shoe. So, he busts out this money to celebrate Toby moving to Costa Rica.

The showering of money leads to what I think was the best subplot: Phyllis vs. Angela in the battle for the best party planner of the office. Angela refuses to plan this elaborate party that Michael wants thrown (anti-gravity machine anyone?) and Phyllis steps in to plan it instead.

This episode also welcome Toby's replacement Holly, the new human resources representative, who Michael and Dwight decide to induct into Dunder Mifflin with some old fashioned hazing, which Dwight defines as "a way to show a new employee that she is not welcome or wanted." Dwight is the only person to go along with this joke however, telling Holly that Kevin is "slow...like, in the mind". So she is super nice to him and now he thinks she has a crush on him. Poor Kevin! Guy never gets a break.

I think Holly might be just what this show needed, someone for Michael to love! I don't know why - but I just want Michael to find someone to love. Is that weird? Anyway, Holly and Michael are a match made in heaven. So what does Michael do to declare his love at first sight (or hear as he says)? Make each other awesome mix CD's and exchange yoda talk, of course.

On to the more pressing issues of the episode. Ryan got arrested! Yes! I so knew this was coming, but I have to admit I really thoguht it would be for his cocaine addiction. And it's just a hunch, but I think Jim is the one who figured out that Ryan was entering the sales twice since they had that phone call early on in the show about how he needed to enter the sale on the website too. If Jim turned him in and told corporate, I think he might just get Ryan's job next season. Which would work perfectly because Pam got into the Pratt School of Design and has to move to New York for three months. Fingers crossed because Jim didn't get to propose during Toby's farwell funeral!

No, instead Andy stole the perfect fireworks moment and proposed to Angela, which I have to admit was hilarious. Can I even imagine the hilarity that this wedding will bring? No. I can't even fathom it. Andy's overly preppy parents. Hilarious. Kelly asking to be a bridesmaid. Hilarious. "Mr. Andrew Bernard. Has a nice ring to it." Hilarious.

Angela & Dwight doing it in the office and Phyllis walking in on them. Priceless.

And finally, Jan is pregnant! But Michael is not the father. Yikes, bikes. Instead, Jan got sperm from a sperm bank, which resulted in one of my favorite quotes from the evening: "If I was 22 and I had lots of time...to have lots of children, then sure let's let Michael have a shot at one of them, but honestly I have to make this one count." Now Michael thinks he's going to be a Daddy. All I have to say is wow.

One last side comment, for the majority of this episode Jim was looking a little greasy and scraggly. Producers of The Office, Jim needs a shower or a hair cut. Pick one and do it Jim Halpert.

I have big expectations for next season. My predictions: Dwight will stop Angela's wedding, Michael & Holly are going to elope (at Sandals in Jamaica), and Pam & Jim will be together forever.

Oh, and Jim will finally wash his hair.

"What Are You Doing?"

It's been a few weeks since I've written a Hills post but we're back in action for the season three finale.

We last left Heidi in Las Vegas with her bosses to scope out a new hotel and casino.

"Think really hard before you do something stupid." - Stephanie Pratt
Within five minutes of this weeks episode Spencer is on his way to Las Vegas to completely humiliate Heidi. As much as those two annoy me (beyond words) I can't help but look forward to this awkward confrontation.

Heidi walks through the Sahara Hotel & Casino with a notebook and pen in hand. I'll give her credit here because every good Working Girl knows not to go anywhere without a notebook and pen. But really, what is she really writing down? Her to do list? She probably doesn't know how to write.

All Whitney and Lauren talk about while at work at People's Revolution is Audrina. Bor-ing! Where is Kelly Cutrone?

"Working with drinks? Yeah, that sounds really legit Heidi" -Stephanie Pratt
I have to say working with drinks sounds pretty legit to me seeing as I was drunk or hungover for 85% of my work trip to South Africa. Anyway, Spencer and Stephanie are on their way to sabotage Heidi's work trip. As he walks in, Heidi is hanging with the boys. I would be so awkward if I were having drinks with three of my male work superiors.

"What are you doing? What are you doing? Like, what are you doing?" - Heidi
Blah, blah, blah we've heard this fight before. Brent Bolthouse is no joke. I picture him as an intimidating boss and now Heidi is on his bad side.

Back in LA...
"I'm gonna eat all of the cheese before [Audrina] gets here, which is not going to be good for my behind!" -Lo
Best. Lo. Quote. Ever.

And back in Las Vegas, Brent is waiting for Heidi outside the hotel. She's late. A good Working Girl isn't late. She is on time or early. Unless, of course, it's a Friday morning after a Thursday night happy hour that went a little too long. Brent left her. What a gentleman! No worries, she's with Spencer. Didn't see that one coming. False.

"I feel like I need to talk to Audrina." - Lauren
THEN DO IT ALREADY!!!! Ok, good, she's finally talking to Audrina and it's probably the worst conversation ever, nothing was resolved.

Spencer and Heidi are back together. That's it? That's the season finale?

At this point I'm ready to swear off The Hills. It's the same thing over and over again. But someone at MTV is doing their job and the "Next season on The Hills" package has sucked me back in. Kelly Cutrone. New hot boys. Lo and Audrina fighting. Yes. Yes. Yes!
