That's Sick!

It's beginning to feel like autumn in New York. The days are getting shorter and I need a sweater or light jacket when I walk out the door in the morning. The onset of autumn only means winter is around the corner and I'm getting closer and closer to having a horrible cold or worse, the flu.

Every year, I seem to get at least one awful cold. Last winter, my sinuses were a mess. The winter before, I had strep. I dealt with a rotten case of the flu senior year of college. My poor grandmother, who lived about 30 minutes from my campus, had to pick me up and take care for me for four days. Ever since then, I've gotten a flu shot from the nurse at work and I sure plan on getting on this year.

There are few things I hate more than not feeling well (my mom calls me the dying swan every time I'm sick because she says I'm such a drama queen...this may or may not be true). So the moment I notice someone around at the office is coughing or sneezing or sniffling I start chugging water, popping vitamin C and washing my hands like it's my job.

This year, with all of the swine flu drama, I'm even more worried about getting sick. My office has been proactive and recently added signs in the bathroom with instructions on washing hands and antibacterial hand soap has been added to the pantry. Hopefully that's a good enough start to keep us employees well and at work.

Be sure to get 3x flu shots. I think the regular flu shot is 1 shot, and the swine you need 2. At least that's what my dad told me. I hope that my office gives them all out because that will be easier than going to the dr a million times. Stay healthy!

Just take a "sick" day to go shopping for all the cute boots and sweaters you'll need for fall :)

I hate getting sick. It's the worst. And if it's in a three foot radius of me I'm going to catch it because I have asthma and a terrible immune system.

Get travel size hand sanitizers. Carry tissue with you and offer it to anyone that looks sick. Avoid going into fast food restaurants and anywhere little people might be (we all know kids spread the worst germs). Yell at anyone who sneezes or coughs and doesn't cover their mouth.

ECHINACEA. Seriously.

GREAT BLOG!! :)

Kinda makes you want to wear little ladylike 50s gloves the entire winter huh? :)

That way you don't really touch anything :P

You know, I'm working on all the H1N1 response tactics for my company, and the CDC actually says that at this point the regular flu is more deadly. Don't worry too much about the swine flu, but a regular flu shot would be well worth the investment! :)

Do you get the flu shot? You might want to this year if you don't normally since it seems like you're more prone to get sick!

Hope that you don't though and can fight off whatever goes around the office this year!

Ick, getting sick is no fun. I try to take a vitamin C pill every day even when I'm not sick to boost my immune system. Keeping some hand sanitizer on my desk for those times when I can't run to the washroom and wash my hands helps too.

The guy that sits across from me was sneezing and coughing today and it made me crazy. I'm so scared of getting sick this fall with the wedding coming up Oct. 17 and then our honeymoon the following week. I'm also having nightmares that the swine flu hits and half our guests can't make it :( I've been washing my hands religiously, using sanitizer, and am going to sstart popping vitamin C. I'm skeptical of the flu shot, but I'm definitely trying to keep my hands away from my face.

I find that a daily dose of ginseng and some acai supplements work wonders... and a good multi-vitamin.

Just found the blog, and I'm loving it!
