Early to Rise

Every morning, I set my alarm for 45-minutes before I actually have to get out of bed. There is nothing I love more than being woken up and then realizing that I still have time to sleep.

Two-weeks ago, instead of hitting snooze for 45-minutes, I got out of bed, got ready for the day and went to work…an hour early! The office was quiet and I could actually get work done without interruptions.

On any given day, it’s nearly impossible for me to focus on one task for more than 10 minutes. Emails are popping up on my computer every two minutes, the phone is ringing and people are walking up right up to my desk with questions. Having quiet time in the office before my co-workers arrive gave me a head start to the day and made me more productive throughout the day.

My early arrivals at work only lasted one week; I just couldn’t get it together to get in early last week. But it’s definitely something I’m going to try to do at least once or twice a week moving forward, especially if I find I'm extremely busy every day, because as much as I love to sleep in, I’d rather get to work early than stay late.

I've always gone to work early by at least half an hour. Gives me time to chill, make some tea, answer emails, and think...

I set my alarm early sometimes too! It really is a great feeling to have that extra hour of sleep. But getting your work done sounds great too! I think a mix of the too will probably work very well for you!

What a cute idea for a blog! Love it! I used to set my alarm early - but only by about 10 min... :).

What I like to do before getting to work is go to the Starbucks next door to my job, order some chai and maybe a whole wheat bagel, sit down in the quiet corner, check my emails there while listening to that smooth jazz. This just makes my mood. It is important to get your day started right.

I set my alarm 45 minutes to an hour early every morning and hit the snooze a bunch of times. I wish I would just get up when it goes off!

Love the idea behind your blog! Your entries are interesting too. :)

Snoozing is the best. I set my alarm a little ahead of schedule too so I can hit the snooze button a couple of times. But you have to be careful though - the sleep that you get when snoozing feels a thousand times deeper than before!

Would you mind if I added you to my blogroll?

i love to sleep in too. good idea about you getting in to work early and getting work done ahead of time. i always try ot make sure i get to work at least about 15 mins early. it gives me time to get settled before actually working. dont do it every single day. you tire yourself out. i like that you mentioned once or twice a week. that is a good idea. as you said when you do that you can get caught up on work without being bothered and you'll feel more relaxed.

That's inspiring! I do the same though with hitting snooze but then always arrive to the office at the latest possible rather than early or extra early. I should try though!!

Btw, cute new banner! It's been a while since I've visited the page beyond my Reader.

I LOVE to hit snooze. I set my alarm a solid 2 hours before I really have to wake up in order to make it to work on time. But every night I go to bed with the intention of waking up when my alarm goes of. But somehow, no matter what, I always just hit snooze and revel in the 2 hours. I even go so far as to get up, take my dog out, go back to sleep, feed him, go back to sleep, etc. even if its only for 5 minutes at a time...oy!

I envy morning people.
