An American Girl in Londontown

I just got back from the wedding in England where I drunkenly embarrassed myself so drastically that I might just ban myself from the United Kingdom altogether. As a side note, congratulations to K & A. The wedding was beautiful! And Vix, here's your big shout-out! Thanks for the lovely big sleep-over and I miss you terribly already.

It's my day to post.

Unfortunately, I have major jet lag (and I totally can't call out of work tomorrow). I just got off the plane ride from hell (think puke, broken TV monitors, and dead iPods).

And to top it all off, WG1 has raided my Ben & Jerry's ice cream stash. And when I say raided I mean she picked out all the good bits and left behind vanilla ice cream. And when I yelled at her (and oh man did I yell) she said she did it because she missed me. Which is really nice, but don't tell her I told you that.

So, in short, I think I might take the night off and go to bed early.

You need to go into more detail about your drunken embarrassment story - who doesn't have one worth sharing? ;)

Bloody Hell!
Better go for a B&J run before you head off to bed.
Glad you had a nice time at the wedding!
Welcome Back!

Welcome WG2, we've missed you as much as WG1 just not quite enough to raid your B&J stash!

Nice to know the wedding was fun..

I've been waiting for things to cool down since you've made blog of note. 85 or so comments for days! I just wanted to say how two remind me so much of myself while I worked in Manhattan; a city gadabout and slicker! Am so grateful to blog of note for having introduced you!
Since I've had my two blogs, and am an agented screenwriter, I try my best to visit and post as often as I can. I've listed you on my blog list, so that I would be able to find you again. Enjoy while you still can! It was very nice meeting you. Petra :))

LOL. That was a nice way of showing how much she missed you. I'll be sure to do that in the future to someone I miss. I agree with Herding Cats though, you need to go into details bout your drunken embarrassment. Tell us what not to do when at a wedding (in UK for that matter!). They're so proper over there.

O.K. I have stopped rolling on the floor, that was way to funny!. You know that wg1 realy did miss you, but don't buy in to "it's because I miissed you" bit. she did that because you didn't take her with you.(just kidding)

Jet lag, huh? My mum and sister just came back from the Philippines and my sister's having a hard time getting over her jet lag. Hope yours isn't as bad as hers! Good to know you arrived safely :)

Oh man, I'd be so pissed about that B and J raid. LMFAO! That reminds me of the old days in the college dorm when I'd buy those neopolitan boxes of ice cream and the other jerks in the dorm would raid the chocolate and strawberry and leave the vanilla for me. Grrrr.

Ben and Jerry's ice cream is good because of the the "goodies." It's a strange way to say she missed you, but just think...it could have been so much worse! Welcome back!

Jackie said...

You lucky duck! Got to visit London yet you're complaining about your ice cream being eaten while you were gone!

I think if you left me behind and swanned off to London, I'd eat the best of the ice cream selection too!

Caz said...

What's your fav B&J flavour?!? I'd have to say the Half-Baked is my fav only because it has the cookie dough in it, but it's also chocolate. Way better than vanilla IMO.
Also, you know you're SO going to have to tell us the embarassing story.

Marchelle said...

just stopping by to say i love your blog! i saw you on the blogs of note.

Dear WG1 and WG2: your blog made me completely waste two working days... Anyway I have read most of it now and love it! I wish a blog like that existed 7 years ago when I was an aspiring working girl straigt out of the university myslef. Gosh, I thought having any job was a real achivement and would blast myself all the time for not being grateful to the Almighty for having it. How I hated my job back then :) Little I know where my career paths would lead me.
Anyway keep going, I have you in my blogs of note and will read anything you post from now on. Cheers

It's brilliant and being a part time working mum who likes to ensure she covers a wide spectrum of insights on her own blog.. you are now on my Be Inspired list! xx

As someone else said, I'm glad Blogger put you guys under blogs of note :) This is waaaaay too funny to keep quiet.
Living in TX and going to Hawaii for a couple of weeks in June put me on a 5 hour jet-lag for a couple of days upon my return home... good luck with getting back into the swing of things!

Definitely need to expand on the drunken embarrassment story! Those are always fun to hear!

Good for you guys being in the blog of note!

Anna Routh said...

WG1, you poor hungover lady. I would never have eaten all the good bits from your ice cream. Ok, maybe I would've. Kind of like I used to take small bits of your port wine cheese and triscuits when you weren't home...Ha!

The Consumer Queen said...

Raided the ice cream? arggh I hate when that happens LOL

LWHG said...

Too funny. I just wrote about my own out of town wedding drunken shenanigans! I think its bound to happen to everyone at some point in time.

Hey!
Come on, out with that 'drunken embarrassment' story. I don't drink, but I get embarrassed a lot, so.... you're actually my role model!!

Okaaaayyy! So here's a new way of showing someone you miss them, raid their snack box!!

Ok, so who do I miss for tea time?!?!?

I accidentally sent an e-mail post instead of a comment too...ha.

Anyway, I've always been tempted by the casual office romance, but have successfully resisted thus far...but I can't say that I don't enjoy the thought(s).

Thanks Working Girls! I added you to my blog list as well. I look forward to more great posts that I can relate to, as I am also a fun working girl.

OH MY GOSH, this is sooooo funny. I get so bored at work, and I read blogs of note on Blogger and I LOVE YOURS. Love love it. I feel like I'm reading a juicy girly chick gossip book but it's REAL LIFE.

Anonymous said...

HA! I hate when that happens to the ice cream dammit. Glad you had a good time at the wedding. Need more details!

Anonymous said...

That's the funniest excuse I have heard for eating the "good bits" in ice cream.

Life with Stinky and Blinky said...

I found you blog through browsing blogs of note. It's very entertaining. Reminds me of my working days.

Life with Stinky and Blinky said...

BTW, isn't London fantastic?!?

ALF said...

I would be so totally pissed if someone picked out all the good bits from the icecream and just left the vanilla. Although that is a very clever excuse!

Delectable Debonair said...

yeah.. I agree.. It's little inconclusive and there is alot for the reader to interpret and make out. Although the expression was awesome.

Michael Knight Rambo said...

You had me at drunkenly embarrassed... but have you ever drunkenly reported you car stolen only to realize the next morning you didn't drive it (thankfully) to the bar? Try calling the copshop to report a car "unstolen." Retarded!
That being said I loved your story but still feel like I need to bleach my eyes with liquid testosterone after all the ice-cream and whatnot.

Sampada said...

hahaha..that was funny..this one seems like a blog worth visiting everyday....hope i keep up my latest resolution ;)
