I Kissed A Coworker and I Liked It

Ok, I didn't hook up with a coworker. In fact, when I told WG2 that I was going to write about hooking up with coworkers she sarcastically said to me "Why? Because you have so much experience?"

She's right, I have little experience hooking up with coworkers. Unless you count when I was the commentary editor of my college newspaper and I started hooking up with the editor in chief. Yes, my working boy and I have quite the dorky story. But that doesn't mean we didn't get hot and heavy once or twice. Ok, just once and we got interrupted. Awkward.

WG2 actually has her own story about hooking up with a coworker but I'll let her tell that one herself. I'm going to tell you a story about my friend, we'll call her LP after her favorite designer Lilly Pulitzer, who innocently went to happy hour and hooked up with a coworker. LP works in the financial district, what she does exactly, I have no idea. But she works with many a hot working boy.

Now, LP loves her white wine almost as much as she loves a preppy boy in a collared shirt and pink gingham oxford shorts. This happy hour she got plenty of both. And plenty of Grey Goose. We'll call LP's hookup BW. BW told LP that he would take her home because she was drunk. LP could have taken a company paid car home but what's a drunk Working Girl to do? In this case, go with the working boy. I won't go into detail about what exactly happened when they hooked up because (a) she didn't tell me and (b) we're not that kind of blog.

The next day is what really matters, as it always does after a drunken hook up. The next day, LP was not in a good place. She was hungover. BW, knowing she would have a raging hangover, kindly brought her a water in the morning. Later in the day, her coworkers kindly informed her that he was married.

After the fateful night, LP and BW went to lunch a few times and LP noticed that this working boy doesn't wear his wedding band. Either he is a bad husband or he really isn't married. That is still to be determined. Either way, LP came to the conclusion that another hook up was not in the future. That was until the Training Class Graduation happy hour. There was more white wine, more Grey Goose shots and more of preppy BW. A party soon followed at a nearby apartment. Long story short, LP and BW proceeded to hook up in the master bedroom.

Every so often BW brings LP coffee. LP doesn't even like coffee, she drinks Sunkist Orange Soda for breakfast, but everytime he brings it she pretends that she does. And that's just the beginning of the awkwardness...

At a company Christmas party (at a very large, rented-out bar) my boss was apparently looking everywhere for me while I was upstairs, tangled in some heavy velvet curtains with one of my co-workers. When I did get back downstairs to my boss, he'd been looking for me for a while to make sure I was all right... awkward...

I've never hooked up with a serious, real-job co-worker but I did have a summer fling with another camp counsellor. There was a small amount of drama involved, and lots of after-the-summer-was-over drama, but at the time it was fun, taboo, and we didn't get caught, so ALLLLLLLLL good.

Hm, good thing most of my co-workers are female (working at a magazine does that)...and the male ones? Well, let's just say they're FAR from being anyone I'd ever see myself hooking up with. (Sweet as they are!) haha

oh the fun times of making out in the elevator before your big presentation!

main problem ... when you are over on and you want to hook up with ANOTHER one of your co-workers. i'm plagued by hot men in my office lol.

i think everyone is overlooking the obvious problem here...

the irresistible power of gingham.

Your blog satisfies my thirst in office gossip. My office is four states away and I spend more time on the road or at home, so there's not much going on there. And if I come to the office, it consists of people who aren't really into each other as they are busy with their lives elsewhere. So these kind of scandals is fun to read! No worries, I'm about to leave for the airport so I'm gonna continue reading via my blackberry. Wahoo!

Office Hookups??? Oh no! Hey wait, I now live 1,500 miles away from home WITH my long distance office hookup. Ah... all good things must come to an end. The best part, we hid it for a year from our co-workers and when we finally decided to tell people they either already figured it out, or really didn't care! Love the Blog!

I have seen it happen with someone I knew. It might be thrilling but it gets very ugly and cheap later on. Well, this girl had to endure the pain of going to his wedding. How does that sound?

I've been married to my office hook-up for almost 7 years now and we have a beautiful baby boy. We were the juicy gossip for a while, but it made it more fun and interesting. They don't always turn out to be scandals! Love the blog!!!!

This post reminds me of a Dorothy Parker poem:

I love a martini,

3 I'm under the table,
4 I'm under my host

Your lucky to work in an office with some hot guys. All we have around here are hicks and most of them are gross. I think if we ever got a really hot co-worker he would have to peel us off of him one at a time LOL

You erased my post? Truth hurts, or is that your conscience speaking?

Romans 1:28-32
And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Though they know God’s decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

Does this describe you? Have you lied, stolen, blasphemed, will you be found guilty of breaking Gods laws(sin)? Heaven or Hell, doesn't it concern you what will happen when you face the one true God, who is holy, righteous and just? He is also rich in mercy, and sent His Son, Jesus Christ to die in your place, but what you must do is repent(turn from sin), and put your trust in Christ.

Or do you love your sin to much?

(shiver)curtis, yes we did delete your comment. didn't mean to offend but, to be completely frank, i think it's a little weird to post bible verses on a blog post.

And yes, of course i've sinned. haven't we all?

While I don't agree with the very adjusted bible, The Torah and Quran are far more interesting ;)

I think the heavy-handed msg from the poster meant that a)if she didn't ASK him if he is married, she is being stupid and quite shallow, sorry but truth is truth.

and b) although you did post it as a bit of gossip, did you giver HER any advice as to how to deal with this.

c) I also agree with the person who said earlier that her 2nd "drunk" encounter is just an excuse. Your friend sounds quite dense, well at least more horny than smart. This isn't going to end well-

I think our pal Curt is picking on the wrong person here.

If BW isn't married, there's no issue. They're either having a little drunken fun, or better yet, maybe they really like each other. If that's the case, I see no sins involved and wish them well in what seems to be a potential romance.

But if he IS married, HE is the sinner here, not her. HE has an obligation to his wife to be faithful. SHE on the other hand, has no obligation whatsoever to HIS wife. She hasn't taken any vows and doesn't owe anything to anyone. And besides, LP sounds wicked fun. If her fling with BW ever ends I'm going to track her down, go to her office and deliver her an orange soda so she has a breakfast drink she actually likes!

(ShiVeR)Curtis said...

I wasn't directing my comment only at "LP' or "BW", fornication is fornication, it's not the sin against the wife (if there is one) that is the main issue, it's the sin against God. Both are at fault, whether he is married or not, they are not married to each other, which makes it wrong. God clearly reveals in His word that sex & lust is to be confined to marriage. Jesus said if you even look with lust(sexual desire) you are an adulterer at heart. It means we are all guilty before God.

And as far as advice, it should seem obvious, get out of the situation, stop it, leave, get a new job, whatever it takes to keep you from the temptation, to keep you from sinning. God hates sin of any kind, and the person whom He has saved will also, even to the point of something as trivial as a loss of their job.

I was also directing my comments to the other posters, as it seems obvious by others comments that this not a Christian site, nor run by Christians.

And as far as the "other" (h)oly books mentioned, it doesn't matter how entertained you are, but what matters is what is true. Jesus said He is the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but through Him. So the question is, do you know the Lord, have you repented of your sin, and put your trust in Him alone to save you. Not your goodness(there is none), not priests, not what you believe but in Him alone.

The bible says there is none good, including me, and I can prove it. Have you ever told a lie, ever stolen, blasphemed, disobeyed your parents, as well as breaking the other commandments, if you've broken these commandments, you are guilt, not good, in Gods sight. A good judge will punish lawbreakers, God created Hell as His place of punishment, if you are guilty and in your sin(unrepentant) you will be cast into the Hell God created.

But God is also merciful, and sent Jesus Christ to save you from your sin, and His wrath against you because of your sin.

So what will you do? Will you bow your knee to your Lord Jesus Christ, or will you continue to rebel against His rule over your life? The evidence of whether you are saved will be a change in your life, you will no longer be as described in Romans 1(previous comment), and you will desire to tell the truth to others, so that they to may be saved.

Hope this clears up any questions or misconceptions.

IMHO, these are great stories as long as they're happening to OTHER people and not me, and I'm just listening innocently around the water coolder :o)

seriously curtis? if this blog isn't something you agree with then stop reading it. you believe in jesus so you think you have the right to tell other people what to think/do/talk about? oh, i know - you're just trying to "help" and "save us". OBVIOUSLY sinning working gals aren't even worthy to be graced by the long shadow cast by your purity - so take it somewhere else.
