Burnt To a Crisp

I feel like this is a complete and total cop-out post so I completely and totally apologize in advance. I am, unfortunately, burnt out. Despite my lovely and relaxing weekend at the shore (thanks Andrea!), I am still tired and at a loss of something substantial to write about so instead of my usual wit and humor I am going to regale you all with a short update on my working life.

1) I am burnt out because my company has a big event coming up tomorrow which means I've been coming in early and leaving late. I even stayed late on Friday to finish printing name tags. I know yuck yuck yuck. Thankfully it will all be over tomorrow and I can go on to plan our next event in November without putting in the long hours.

2) The New Kid is still killing me. After all your comments on how I should give him a chance I thought, "Ok, maybe I am being too harsh on this guy." It's been two weeks and let me tell you, he has not let up. My biggest pet peeve of the New Kid's is how he loses e-mails. I have sent him numerous e-mails and he somehow can't locate them when I ask to see his work re. that e-mail I sent two hours ago. Oh, and he loves to invite himself to lunch with me and my work friends. Not okay.

3) My new roommate Natalie is still doing her boss. 'Nuff said.

4) I still have not heard a word from my Chicago interviews which is highly, highly frustrating and nerve-racking. Unfortunately the economy is not helping my search for the perfect job in the city I yearn to be in. On the bright side Thanksgiving is right around the corner so I am going to get to plan a trip home soon (woohoo!).

5) I am currently watching One Tree Hill and I just noticed how many work-related topics are in this show! But seriously their professions are so far-fetched. Brooke owns her own clothing line (well not really anymore), Lucas is a writer, and Peyton is starting her own record label. I don't know about you guys but I don't have any recent grad friends who own their own businesses or are making anything close to a number that would let them buy their own houses. Do you think Brooke would hire me? I'm a really super assistant.

Again sorry for this cop-out post. I promise to bring my normal blogging back on Wednesday once this event is finito.

5) Not only are their jobs far fetched, but they are doing these things in a pretty miniscule town. Really, a music label in Tree Hill and a successful (used to be) writer? I must be doing something wrong with my life. ;)

1) It's the industry - no rest, always on a deadline, it sucks. I'm burnt no matter how many days off or weekends away I take.

I love One Tree Hill. I don't care how far fetched it is! I want to be Brooke Davis when I grow up!! LOL.

I second jayvee. Seriously, a successful clothing line and record label in Tree Hill?! If that were the realistic, I'd move back to Kansas in a heart beat and start my own advertising agency. or event planning company.

i feel ya on the job search thing. i'm looking in chicago as well and am having zero luck. at least you're getting interviews! i hope something works out for you!

will you move back without a job or are you going to wait until you find something?

I never thought about how far fatched their jobs are on OTH, but you are totally right! They should have lowly assistant jobs or be working at Starbucks or something!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you on your Chicago job prospects!

Aww good luck with the job search, you'll find something! I'll keep my finger crossed for you.

And I totally agree about One Tree Hill, it's very unrealistic. The whole show is a bit whacked out to be honest...I mean Quentin Fields was shot by a lunatic at a gas station and no one has even mentioned finding the killer...as if it's just an everyday thing for murderers to kill people at gas stations. That's been bugging me for weeks. Love the show though.

good luck with the job search. i know how it is tho. sucks major big ones scouring endlessly for jobs and going to interviews and waiting to hear back, blah blah blah.

i'd much rather be watching one tree hill :]

No worries - it's always hard to keep up with the posting when real life takes over. I'm currently doing a TON of design work for my own blog and its seriously getting in the way of me doing what I actually love (writing). However it is a means to an end. Keep at it working girl.

The only job that is 'far-fetched' in tree hill is the record studio. If you would have watched from season one the characters are doing what they are suppose to be doing. And, they also started their 'far-fetched' jobs in big cities. Clothes over Bros began in New York, but Brooke missed Tree Hill so she got a store up and running at home(In Tree Hill). Other then that their careers are perfectly nourmal.

There are small towns out thre with people like that. Its not all about living in the city. We aren't all city buffs.

Shocking right, someone might ACTUALLY like a small town where you can get peace and quiet...

I never got into One Tree Hill....though I am starting to watch Gossip Girl. Pretty pathetic considerin I'm a mom and in my thirties! But I'm a hip mom...or at least, this is my attempt at staying hip.

Hear that. Had first economic-crisis-related break down this morning. It passed. Still, sometimes you're just DONE--and only One Tree Hill can fix it.
